From Seed to Speed:

Speed Landscaping in Action

At the close of 2025, we were challenged to transform a beautiful garden in Bathurst, Franschhoek, in time for the owner’s wedding on 28 December.  With only a few weeks to deliver, our team showcased the power of speed landscaping, combining precision project management, creativity, and sheer passion to meet our client’s expectations.

The result?

A garden ready to host a milestone celebration, proving that BEST Landscaping thrives under pressure and consistently delivers over and above expectations.

Beyond One Project: Building Lasting Partnerships

The wedding garden project didn’t end when the celebration was over.  The client has since engaged us in discussions for ongoing maintenance and future landscaping work; a clear reflection of how we build trust and deliver lasting value.

This progression from a single, high‑pressure project to a long‑term relationship highlights what sets BEST Landscaping apart: we don’t just meet expectations, we create confidence that keeps clients coming back.

And while this story is unique, the principle applies to every project we take on.

From Simonstown to Yzerfontein, we’re available to design, implement, and maintain gardens for homes, holiday properties, and businesses.  Whether it’s a one‑off transformation or a long‑term partnership, our goal is always the same: to cultivate spaces that thrive and relationships that endure.

If you’re planning a project in 2026 – big or small – let BEST Landscaping bring your vision to life.  Contact us today to discuss how we can design, implement, and maintain landscapes that exceed expectations.

Rooted in Excellence:

On-Site with Augustine

Since 2013, when Augustine first joined Julian as a young intern with more drive than daylight hours, the two have shaped landscapes, and careers, side by side.

Their professional journey has taken them through several companies before Augustine rejoined Julian at BEST Landscaping almost from the inception of the business.  Today, he’s a cornerstone of the team, overseeing key projects across towns and suburbs such as Somerset West, Franschhoek, and Paarl, including prominent estates like Val de Vie and Pearl Valley, as well as a selection of upmarket residential landscapes.  Whether co-ordinating a large-scale installation, nurturing a garden into maturity, or bringing calm expertise to a bustling site, Augustine’s steady presence has become woven into the very DNA of BEST.

  1. You’ve journeyed with Julian since those early intern days; if your landscaping career were a garden bed, which moment would you say was the “first big growth spurt”?My first real ‘growth spurt’ came the day I was handed the responsibility of managing projects like the Silo Gardens at the V&A Waterfront all while I was still a junior. It felt like someone suddenly fed my career a double dose of fertiliser. Overwhelming at first, but it pushed me to stretch, learn, and grow faster than I expected.
  2. You manage projects in some of the Cape’s most beautiful spots. Which location has surprised you the most, either with its scenery, its soil, or its stories?
Paarl, definitely Paarl. After getting used to Cape Town’s soils, I walked into Paarl expecting more of the same… and instead met rocky ground that felt like it had been doing weightlifting. It completely surprised me, and taught me quickly that every region has its own personality.
  3. Every seasoned landscaper has at least one “tried-and-tested wisdom nugget.” What’s yours, the one you pass on to new staff before they even pick up a rake?
Planning. Always start with a plan. A successful project is basically a well‑drawn map, without it, you’re wandering. With it, you win. It’s the one thing I tell every newcomer before they even touch a tool.
  4. And when the work boots come off, what does downtime look like for you and your family?
Home time is short but sweet. The moment I walk in, I squeeze in some playtime with the kids, listen to their stories from the day, and then enjoy the comfort of a warm meal my wife prepares. It’s simple, but it’s the best ending to any day.

Seasonal Garden Tips:

High Summer into Autumn, and the Month of Love

With hot, dry days still ahead and autumn on the horizon, here are some quick tips to keep your garden flourishing and to make it a space that reflects February’s spirit of love:

Mulch generously
Retain soil moisture and protect roots from heat stress.

Water wisely
Early morning or late evening watering reduces evaporation.

Deadhead summer blooms
Encourage fresh growth and extend flowering.

Plan for autumn colour
Plant hardy shrubs or perennials now for seasonal vibrancy.

Add romance to your garden
Introduce fragrant plants like roses, jasmine, or lavender; create intimate seating nooks with trellises or pergolas; and use soft lighting to turn your garden into a welcoming, love‑infused retreat.

Check irrigation systems
Ensure efficiency before cooler months arrive.

BEST Landscaping is cultivating speed, passion, and long‑term perennials, sorry, partnerships!
